National Stock Exchange of India

The National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE), is a Mumbai-based stock exchange. It is the largest stock exchange in India and the third largest in the world in terms of volume of transactions[1]. NSE is mutually-owned by a set of leading financial institutions, banks, insurance companies and other financial intermediaries in India but its ownership and management operate as separate entities[2]. As of 2006, the NSE VSAT terminals, 2799 in total, cover more than 1500 cities across India [3]. In July 2007, the NSE had a total market capitalization of 42,74,509 crore INR making it the second-largest stock market in South Asia in terms of market-capitalization[4].

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (known as BSNL, India Communications Corporation Limited) is a public sector communications company in India. It is the largest telecommunication company in India and the sixth largest in the world [citation needed]. Its headquarters are at Bharat Sanchar Bhawan, Harish Chandra Mathur Lane, Janpath, New Delhi. It has the status of Mini-ratana - a status assigned to reputed Public Sector companies in India.

Kanwal Rekhi

Kanwal Rekhi (born 1945) is an Indian-American engineer, businessman and millionaire philanthropist.Kanwal was born in Rawalpindi (then in British India, now in Pakistan). After the partition of India, his family settled in Kanpur, India. In 1967 Rekhi graduated as an electrical engineer from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India and in 1969 he received a Master of Science degree from Michigan Technological University. Kanwal has been a major donor to Michigan Tech, including a gift of $5 million for new computer science facilities. He worked as an engineer, systems analyst, and manager for many years before floating his first company, Excelan in 1982. Excelan was a manufacturer of smart ethernet cards, and was also responsible for the commercial growth of the internet protocol TCP/IP. The company merged with, and was acquired by Novell in 1989 and Kanwal was given a seat on the board.

Victor Menezes

Victor J. Menezes (May 14, 1949 - ) is an engineer and banker, who acts as a top official in international financial organizations. He is originally from India and received his degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 1970. He received a Master's degree in Management (M.B.A.) from the MIT Sloan School of Management in 1972. In the same year, he joined Citicorp in Corporate Banking. Later, he was posted in "practically every continent" -- as one bio-sketch put it. Displaying exemplary banking skills throughout, he rose to the post of Chief Financial Officer in 1995.

Pradeep Sindhu

Pradeep Sindhu (1953, Mumbai, India) is the serving Chief Technical Officer of Juniper Networks Inc.
Sindhu founded Juniper Networks along with Dennis Ferguson, and Bjorn Liencres in February 1996 in California. The company was subsequently reincorporated in Delaware on March 1998 in and went public on the 25th of June, 1999.
Sindhu was instrumental in the architecture, design, and development of the Juniper M40 while running the company.
Sindhu had worked at the Computer Science Lab of Xerox PARC for 11 years. Sindhu worked on design tools for VLSI and high-speed interconnects for shared-memory multiprocessors.

Arvind Raghunathan

Arvind Raghunathan (born 1963) is a Managing Director and Head of Global Arbitrage at Deutsche Bank, where he has worked since 1995. Here, he manages a large part of the bank’s proprietary trading and investments in a variety of global financial instruments. Industry publications have named him several times as one of the world’s top traders.

Born and raised in India, Raghunathan attended the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras), as a National Science Talent Search scholar. After receiving his engineering degree in 1984, he moved to the United States and obtained a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley in 1988. For the next three years, Raghunathan was Assistant Professor at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences of New York University and the University of California, Davis, where he accomplished fundamental research on computing. During this time, Raghunathan also was a consultant for a number of corporations, including IBM, Hewlett Packard, and Xerox. He was elected as a Fellow of the Institute for Combinatorics in 1991.

Vinod Khosla

Vinod Khosla (born January 28, 1955 in Pune, India[1]) is an Indian-American venture capitalist. He is an influential personality in Silicon Valley. He was one of the co-founders of Sun Microsystems and became a general partner of the venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers in 1986.

Khosla read about the founding of Intel in Electronic Engineering Times at the age of fourteen and this inspired him to pursue technology as a career. Khosla went on to receive degrees from the IIT Delhi, India (Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering ), Carnegie Mellon University (Masters in Biomedical Engineering), and Stanford Graduate School of Business (MBA).

Previous to Intelius, Naveen Jain founded InfoSpace in March 1996 and was its Chief Executive Officer until December 2002. Before starting Infospace, Naveen was senior executive at Microsoft for its online service MSN.

Ajit Jain (अजित जैन) (born, 1951 in India) is a businessman who currently heads several reinsurance business for Berkshire Hathaway[1] and has been touted as a possible successor to Warren Buffett.[2]
Jain's potential rivals to head up Berkshire when Buffett departs are Joseph Brandon, who heads up Berkshire Hathaway's General Re Corp., whose offices in Stamford, Connecticut are about a mile away from Jain's; Richard Santulli, who runs NetJets Inc., an operator of private jets; and Tony Nicely, chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway's GEICO Corp.[3]

Amartya Sen

Amartya Kumar Sen CH (Hon) (Bengali: অমর্ত্য কুমার সেন Ômorto Kumar Shen) (born 3 November 1933), is an Indian economist, philosopher, and a winner of the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences (Nobel Prize for Economics) in 1998, "for his contributions to welfare economics" for his work on famine, human development theory, welfare economics, the underlying mechanisms of poverty, and political liberalism.
From 1998 to 2004 he was Master of Trinity College at Cambridge University, becoming the first Asian academic to head an Oxbridge college. Amartya Sen is interested in the debate over globalization. He has given lectures to senior executives of the World Bank and he is honorary president of Oxfam.
Among his many contributions to development economics, Sen has produced work on gender inequality. He is currently the Lamont University Professor at Harvard University. Amartya Sen's books have been translated into more than thirty languages. He is a trustee of the Economists for Peace and Security.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) (incorporated on June 23, 1993) is an Indian public sector petroleum company. It is a Fortune Global 500 company, and contributes 77% of India's crude oil production and 81% of India's natural gas production. It is the highest profit making corporation in India. It was set up as a commission on August 14, 1956. Indian government holds 74.14% equity stake in this company.
ONGC is engaged in exploration and production activities. It is involved in exploring and exploiting hydrocarbons in 26 sedimentary basins of India. It produces about 30% of India's crude oil requirement. It owns and operates more than 11,000 kilometers of pipelines in India. Until recently (March 2007) it was the largest company in terms of market cap in India.[1].
